Asa (pseudonym), also known by her birth name Marta Ribeiro, was born in Porto, Portugal. Asa finished high school at Escola Artística de Soares dos Reis, specializing in Multimedia, where her first short film “Hotaru” was produced, awarded and winner of the STUFFit Student Film Festival in the Senior Animation Category and Cinedita's Film Festival - Arganil's Shorts Competition.
